The Chevrolet Malibu has updated its standard features to include forward collision warning, automatic high-beam headlights, forward automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, front pedestrian detection, and lane-departure warning. The Malibu also continues to have four trims but it replaces its Premier trim with the 2LT trim. The 2.0-liter engine was also discontinued.
The Nissan Altima received a refreshed exterior which includes new wheels and a redesigned front fascia. The 12.3-inch touchscreen was added to the available technology features list. Additional features like rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, forward and reverse collision warning with pedestrian detection, and rear seat alert were added to the standard safety and driver-assistance features.
The 2023 Chevrolet Malibu is equipped with an adequate turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine which generates 160 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque and is paired with front-wheel drive and a continuously variable automatic transmission. It also receives great fuel efficiency for the midsize sedan class and provides its occupants with a comfortable and composed ride. The Malibu is great for riding around town or traveling for road trips.
The 2023 Nissan Altima has two engine options. The base engine is a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder and the optional engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder. Critics found both engines to struggle and were occasionally loud when accelerating, and that the handling on the Altima was numb and was an underwhelming ride experience.. Front-wheel drive is standard on the Altima, and all-wheel drive is available. The Altima also has the same continuously variable automatic transmission as the Malibu and also gets good fuel economy.
Malibu comes standard with a 15.7 cubic feet trunk which is suitable for groceries or luggage, and if you need more space for items like golf clubs the Malibu’s rear seats fold down. The interior is also paired with an 8-inch touchscreen, push-button start, a six-speaker stereo, proximity keyless entry, wireless smartphone connectivity, a USB port, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The Malibu also features Chevrolet’s Infotainment 3 System. The Malibu has optional upgrades like leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, heated and ventilated front seats, and a heated steering wheel.
The Altima has a smaller trunk than the Malibu, and the standard touchscreen on the Altima is a 7-inch. The Altima has the same standard technology features as the Malibu, except wireless smartphone connectivity and Wi-Fi hotspot, are available features.
In both the Malibu and Altima, cloth upholstery is standard and each can hold five occupants. The Altima also has the same optional upgrades as the Malibu.
