The 2023 4Runner features an aging and thirsty 4.0-liter V6 that can only muster up 270 horsepower. Paired with a five-speed automatic transmission and a choice between a rear-wheel-drive or a part-time four-wheel-drive system, its age is immediately apparent. Zero to 60 takes nearly 8 seconds, and while the 2023 4Runner can tow up to 5,000 pounds, it's too compromised in other areas.
