Protection from the Texas Weather

Keep Your Car Cool in the Texas Heat

Even though the Texas sun can be unforgiving, the features in modern Chevrolet vehicles and a host of Chevy accessories are available to help make even the hottest days cool and comfortable. Here are six ways you can keep your vehicle cool under the blazing Texas sun.

1 - Invest in a Chevy Windshield Sunshade

No one likes grabbing hold of a sizzling hot steering wheel or feeling the warmth of the seat radiating against their back during the hot Texas weather. Using a sunshade can keep the heat of the sun from baking your upholstery. Chevy sunshades can come tailormade for your model and often have the Chevy bowtie emblem or other fun designs.

2 - Add a Solar-Powered Ventilation Fan to the Cabin

A solar-powered ventilation fan can be attached to the top of a rolled-up window and used to blow the hot air out of your vehicle while pulling in the slightly cooler air from outside.

3 - Park In the Shade

Whenever possible, it’s best that you park your vehicle in a garage or under an awning. Unfortunately, most public businesses don’t have a covered parking area. If your favorite Sulphur Springs grocery store is one of the many that don’t, try to find a shaded area to park in instead. A shade tree or the side of the building opposite the sun can often provide enough coverage.

4 - Open the Door and Roll Down the Windows

If none of the above solutions are viable for you, try opening the doors for several minutes before climbing inside. This will allow the hot air trapped inside to escape. Once you start driving, roll down the windows and let the cool air stream in.

5 - Use Seat Covers

Seat covers can do more than protect your upholstery from spills. Covering your seat, steering wheel, and any other parts of your interior that have dark materials can lower the amount of heat your car absorbs. It can also protect your leather or vinyl upholstery from sun damage.

6 - Invest in a Vehicle with Remote Features

If you’re shopping for a new vehicle, find a model with a remote start feature that allows you to set the climate control features before getting inside. Most 2024 Chevrolet vehicles are available with myChevrolet connected services, which give you remote access to lock/unlock your vehicle, set the temperature, and more.
