The 2023 Equinox receives a few incremental upgrades under the hood. The 1.5-liter turbo four now puts out 175 horsepower, five more than in 2022. A new E-Boost electrically assisted braking system replaces the old vacuum-assisted one. There are a few new colors, and the base LS trim can now be availed with the Sport and Midnight packages.
Elsewhere, the 2023 Equinox offers a spacious cabin for up to five adults, plus 30 cubic feet of luggage space. You’ll appreciate the standard Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, cruise control, and climate control. Standard features depending on trim include a seven-speaker Bose sound system, dual-zone climate control, power driver’s seat, heated front seats, adaptive cruise control, and more. A number of these enhancements are available as optional features across all 2023 Equinox models as well. The 2023 Equinox doesn’t skimp on safety features, offering a host of standard active safety systems.
The Chevrolet Equinox was among the earlier crossover SUVs, debuting in 2005. It had the versatility of an SUV with the handling of a car. Unlike other SUVs of the time, it was designed for on-road use instead of off-roading. Even so, the AWD system offered traction and stability on all road surfaces. Some of the features on the first Equinox included the MultiFlex sliding rear seat, a 1,500-pound towing capacity, electronic stability control, heated front seats, and leather upholstery. The available trim levels expanded for the 2017 model year, and navigation became an option. A new Sport trim was added in 2008 with its own 263-horsepower engine. 2008 also saw some reshuffling and renaming of trims, with the LT3 being replaced by the high-end LTZ. Additionally, for this model year, Chevrolet upgraded the suspension and included OnStar and Electronic Trailer Sway Control as standard. Bluetooth* became an option the following year, which is also when satellite radio and side-impact airbags became standard. The second-generation Equinox arrived as a 2010 model with a slightly larger wheelbase and slight decrease in overall length, a new grille, revised headlights, the new Eco drive mode, and improved fuel economy.
