The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 is Chevrolet’s full-size, heavy-duty pickup truck that is outselling the competition, including the RAM 2500 and the Ford F-250. This is despite posting a 17-percent decrease in sales in the first quarter of 2022.
It has many great qualities, modern macho styling, and dependable and efficient powertrains. The truck also has an excellent towing capability and a highly appointed cabin with the latest creature comforts.
Its dominant performance in the market has naturally put a target on its back. So, we compare it with the 2022 Ford F-250 to see how it stacks up against the competition.

The cabin of the 2022 Silverado 2500 goes from basic to fully loaded, depending on the variant. What comes standard is the robust and rugged dashboard with vertical vents. It also has twin gloveboxes and a touchscreen infotainment system with the Chevy3 operating system.
Passengers will appreciate features like Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, voice control, and Bluetooth® connectivity. Higher models come with a larger eight-inch touchscreen display and a seven-speaker Bose audio system.
The interior of the base model 2022 Ford F-250 also has simple features, but gets better with the higher variants. Leather-trimmed upholstery becomes available along with ambient lighting, heated and cooled front seats, and wireless charging. Base models do not get a touchscreen system. But the ones that do start with an eight-inch display. The top-of-the-line models can have a 12-inch monitor.
The 2022 Silverado 2500 has two engine options. The first one is a 6.6-liter V-8 that sends 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque to the wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. The other engine is a 6.6-liter Duramax diesel V-8 that makes 445 horsepower and a whopping 910 pound-feet of torque. It uses a 10-speed automatic transmission.
All engines use either a rear-wheel or all-wheel drive layout. If you regularly tow jet skis, boats, and whatnot, the variant with the Duramax powertrain is the one to get. The steering feels light for a full-size, heavy-duty pickup truck, but ride comfort is excellent, almost SUV-like.
The 2022 Ford F-250 has three engine options, two V-8 engines, and a 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel engine with 475 horsepower and 1,050 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard on the base model, but an optional 10-speed automatic transmission is available.
Because of its rigid suspension, the ride of the 2022 Ford F-250 is stiff but smoothens out once the bed is laden. Maneuverability can be challenging due to the neutered steering feedback and the size of the vehicle.
The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 starts with only an essential set of safety features. It has a stability control system, front/side/head curtain airbags, and a rear camera. The truck also has a hitch guidance system, a teen driver feature, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
The Ford F-250’s base model comes with fewer features. It only has AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control, Electronic Stability Control, and Roll Stability Control, side impact beams, driver and passenger airbags, a reverse camera, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
It is not hard to see why the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 is the number one pickup truck in its segment today. Its design-power-and-amenities combo is simply a tough act to follow.
